A BRIEF HISTORY

It started many years ago when an elderly couple, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Jordon, neighbors of Earl & Hazel Griffin, had no family near to care for them.  Earl & Hazel took it upon themselves to care for Mrs. Jordon, who became ill, until her death.  Later they would do the same for Bill Jordon.  It was all done without remuneration, but the joy they received from serving was much more satisfying than a paycheck.  One day Hazel said, "Earl, I would like to have a nursing home where we could care for the elderly who have no one to care for them or whose family are not able.  They looked at some small homes that were for sale.  After one such visit to a home where the odor was strong, Hazel said, "Earl, if we ever do get a nursing home it must be kept clean and there can be no urine odor."  They purchased a small 19 bed home in Knoxville, Iowa.  Today, members of the Griffin family and nearly 100 dedicated staff, operate the Griffin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at 606 N 7th St. in Knoxville, Iowa.

OUR PURPOSE

GRIFFIN Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a skilled facility dedicated to offering the best possible care to each resident.  It has a high ratio of employees to residents.  Employees take pride in their work and endeavor to treat each resident as family.
