WHAT OTHERS SAY
My father was the late and GREAT Anthony Ver Meer. I just want to send my appreciation for the wonderful care and concern shown to our family, especially in the last days of Dad's life. Some of the specific things I recall:
- Dad was always kept clean & shaven.
- The staff kept his mouth swabbed.
- Dad was turned frequently to keep
from getting sores.
- Pads under his feet for comfort.
- His legs were rubbed down with lotion.
- The sheets were always clean
and tucked neatly.
- He was kept comfortable with pain
medication.
- Meals and drinks brought to our family.
- We were offered a bed for rest.
- Many employees came to offer
condolences and had something
kind to say about Dad.
- Shirley, I really appreciated that you
asked someone to stay with Dad when I
left at night so he would not be alone on
Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
I am sure there are things I am forgetting, but I wanted you to know we REALLY appreciated your kindness and loving care in those final, difficult days.

Dear Family and Staff:
We want to thank you for the beautiful plant
you sent for the funeral of Geraldine Flietstra.
But much more than that, we wish to thank you for the evidence of the loving Christian care
that Geraldine received for the many years in which she was in the Griffin Nursing Center.
We have found the attitude of the nursing
staff and administrators to be exemplary and very much appreciated. We were often asked
why we did not transfer her to a nursing home closer to her two sisters. We simply said that
no such good care was available in any other nursing home we knew of.
Throughout her active life as a Christian school teacher and Pastor's wife, Geraldine was always
a giving person. It seemed right and good that God provided that kind of care for her during
her 14 years at Griffin Nursing Center.
Your service was much appreciated.

"Words cannot adequately express the appreciation we feel for the administration and staff and the excellent care of Roxene.
You showed so much love and concern for her while she was a resident at your home. Everyone was so nice and helpful, and she especially loved the delicious meals. She was always a good eater.
We feel like you are a part of Our Family. May God bless all of you!
Love,

A BIG THANK YOU
I can't begin to thank you for all the wonderful care my mother received while in your home. I know she was a handful and challenging at times; but you kept her safe, sat with her and always treated her with dignity and respect. It is hard to find a place that will go the extra mile and take a person that has special needs. I made sure that the good care she received was known throughout the community. Please know that there is a special place in all of our hearts for each of you. One more thing is to thank the Director of Nursing for being the support system for me. The strong compassion she has for the elderly is remarkable.
God Bless all of you!

Dear Friends:
As a family we are almost at a loss to tell you how much we appreciated all of you throughout Raymond's stay at the center.
Your love for him was so evident in everything you did for him. You were always kind, patient, tender and loving. We can't remember one time when anyone was harsh with him or any other resident. Thank you for keeping him so clean and neat. Thanks for all of your smiles as you worked with him. He was so happy there with you and he trusted you all. In fact, his sisters wondered if he knew you people better than he did some of us!
We are so thankful for the Christian atmosphere in your nursing home. A special thanks goes to Chaplain Bill Lane who spent much time with us and him.
Your kindness will never be forgotten!

A THANK YOU
FROM SYLVIA MENINGA
"I want to personally thank each of you for the loving care you gave to my mother, Nellie. When I visited her, I found myself very pleased that she was being cared for in your home. Her surroundings were always clean, well ordered and nicely decorated. The staff were always friendly and helpful; from the Director of Nurses to the aides and housekeepers, all were willing to go the extra mile to make mother happy and comfortable. One nurse Assistant, especially, took time to help my mother work through some of her fears and anxieties."
Sincerely yours,
Sylvia Meninga

FROM THE WATKINS
Thank you for all of the nice things you did for our Dad while he was at your home. We reall appreciated that he always had his TV to watch. He really loved to keep up with the Hawkeyes games. You are all kind, compassionate people and Dad was made very comfortable. The dialysis clinic gave you lots of good comments on his care too. We are glad he came to be with you.
